Helping dogs to live with, and beat, cancer
Cancer is the leading cause of death for dogs. However, we believe that through increased education efforts, dogs can continue to enjoy a high quality of life and share the love and companionship with their parents, even long after receiving a cancer diagnosis.
Our goals are to:
IMPROVE and EXTEND the quality of life for dogs battling cancer
and
Eventually help in DEVELOPING CURES for canine cancers.
A sharing and comparing forum for parents that wish to provide recommendations, tips/advice or ask questions based on what they have personally experienced in their own dogs' fight against cancer.
Focus Areas
Finding out that your dog has cancer is a difficult experience. Determining what to do next can be overwhelming. We are working to assist dog owners in that education and decision making process. Counseling is focused on helping to manage a diagnosis and the possible treatments/resources for their beloved companions.
Treatments can be extremely expensive and many parents have to face the difficult decision of whether or not they can afford to pay for them. We will be working with established programs to help provide financial assistance to families that cannot afford to pay for these necessary treatments.
"You are what you eat" not only applies to humans, but to dogs too. A healthy diet can make a healthy difference!
Our goal is to provide dog parents with access to a single resource that highlights currently available clinical trials in their area as well as detailed information regarding how to enroll in those programs.
This endowment supports the funding of cutting edge research and clinical trials at the Flint Animal Cancer Center. The focus is on improving and extending the quality of life for dogs fighting cancer.
